Simon is a Graduate of the Guildhall School of Music who went on to play with the London Philharmonic Orchestra for 10 years at the same time as being a member of the 80's band "Gentle Touch" (Chart success with "Dream of You"). He left both in 1989 to pursue a career as a Composer and freelance Double Bass player performing both live and in the studio with artists ranging from Luciano Pavarotti and Barbra Streisand to Eric Clapton and Paul McCartney.

As a composer, as well as innumerable commissions for TV, Radio, Film and Commercials, he has written over 400 Library compositions, his work being used in countless productions all over the world.

Shortly after leaving the LPO, he was asked to co-write the signature tune, jingles and stings for BBC Radio 2's coverage of 'Italia '90’. This led to BBC Radio 5 Live commissions for: 'Champion Sport’, 'Rugby World Cup’, 'Barcelona Olympics' -(Gold medal - Sony Radio Awards), 'Trevor Brooking's '5 Football Night’, 'Mid-week Football Plus’, '’Racing on 5", 'Sportsbeat, 'USA World Cup’ and 'Commonwealth Games’.

This sport work in turn led on to commissions in that genre for TV programmes such as: 'Euro-League Basketball’ - Eurosport.
'Live & Dangerous’ - Channel 5.
'Pitch Hit & Run’, 'NHL’, 'In the Net’ - Channel 5.
'Gillette World Sport’ - ITV and Sky Sport (170 countries).
